Companies Implement Plan To Ensure Preparedness
Recently, national and local news media have featured stories about the potential for an outbreak of the H1N1 influenza virus, commonly referred to as the "swine flu." In addition, the Department of Homeland Security recently issued guidelines to small businesses urging them to identify their essential operations and have plans for operating should the flu disrupt their operations.
In light of these concerns, the Ross companies are implementing a plan to ensure their preparedness for a pandemic event.
As a first step, the companies created a Pandemic Preparedness Team. One of the primary goals of this team is to assure continue operation of our facility and transportation fleet to serve our customers. Another goal is to maintain the health and well-being of our associates. To this end, we have completed training within the companies to educate our associates on staying healthy and reducing exposure.
In the event that a pandemic event significantly affects our workplace, our associates are cross trained and can perform multiple functions. Many of them are also equipped to work from home should the need arise. In addition, we have redundant vendors that can provide critical materials and services to our companies. We will be able to continue operations and serve our customers.
Finally, the Ross companies are working with local authorities to stay abreast of information regarding the H1N1 influenza virus as it develops.
