The Ross
Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1984 to provide the Ross companies
and its principals with a centralized and distinct avenue for charitable
giving. Each year, the Ross Foundation awards several scholarships
for students who are pursuing their education at a college or accredited
post-secondary school. Some of these scholarships are awarded directly
by the foundation and others are awarded by the Lorain County Community
College Foundation, through scholarship programs establised by the
Ross Foundation.
Ross/Cromling Scholarship Fund
The Ross
Foundation recently anounced the selection of the 2008-2009 Ross/Cromling
Scholarship recipients. Bianca Reeves-Stevanus of Grafton, Ohio and
Rachel Vakerics of Elyria, Ohio are the scholarhsip recipients.
The Ross/Cromling
scholarships are awarded annually by the Ross Foundation. The scholarship
fund was created by associates of the Ross companies to provide college
funding for the children and grandchildren of associates. Each scholarship
is for $1,000 and funds for the scholarshp are generated through associate
fundraisers.
The scholarship
recipients are selected by a committee of community representatives
who are not affiliated with the Ross companies.
Bianca Reeves-Stevanus
is the daughter of Ross INcineation associate Brian Stevanus. She
is a graduate of Midview High School and is entering her sophomore
year at the University of Toledo. Reeves-Stevanus is majoring in early
childhood education. During her first year of college, she was inducted
into the Phi Eta Sigma national honors society and was a member of
the Council for Exceptional Children.
Rachel Vakerics
is the granddaughter of Ross Incineration associate Dianna Pierce.
Vakerics is a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School and is entering
her third year at Xavier University in Cincinnnati where she is majoring
in nursing. Vakerics is a member of te Xavier Student Alumni Organization
and the club softball team of which she is the club's vice president.
In addition, she has volunteered for Relay for Life and the Cross
Town Help Out program.
